NOAL Symbol

Designing One Symbol for Two Cultures

I was asked to redesign its historical symbol to include Israel’s two main languages, while keeping the change undetectable

The NOAL movement for the working and the learning youth is a versatile educational organization for children and youth, providing socialist and democratic education to all sectors of Israeli society for almost 100 years. In honor of the movement’s 10th national conference, I was asked to redesign its historical symbol to include Israel’s two main languages - Hebrew and Arabic, while keeping the change undetectable as possible. The process included a great deal of research in various fields - from the movement’s history to Hebrew-Arabic typography. The redesigned symbol was made to serve the movement in the 21st century and the digital age while maintaining and expressing its original values.
