Contrast is a cognitive research platform that aggregates meta-data from thousands of academic studies worldwide. I was commissioned as a part of a team that developed a custom web-app for ConTraSt's expansion, that revolved around two core design challenges:
- Redesigning the existing data visualization system, making it more valuable for researchers
- To map, plan and design the complex data submission process, removing friction and encouraging users to contribute papers to database.
I structured the redesign around two core UX goals:
Making the data-visualization interface friendlier and useful to researchers
- Designing a more familiar data visualization interface to allow easy exploration of cognitive research trends.
- Reinforcing engagement by allowing users to copy & download generated charts and data, highlighting the platform’s value.
- Simplifying and motivating research submissions
- Creating a step-by-step guided submission process to reduce cognitive load.
- Implementing dynamic form validation to help researchers format data correctly.
- Designing progress tracking methods to give users a sense of progression and achievement.
